Early Years
Growing up, I was encouraged by a creative family and always loved drawing and making my own dresses and blouses using cushion squares.

Education
I took a gap year to throw pots and design for a small shop before spending two years at Hammersmith School of Art. This was followed by three years at Goldsmith's, London, studying drawing under Betty Swanwick and textiles under Constance Howard. I graduated with a BA Hons in Textile and Fashion and was awarded a Society of Designer Craftsmen Licentiate.

Textile Artist
As a textile artist, I was a member of 62 Group and Embroiders Guild, participated in several group exhibitions and freelanced for around ten years. I then moved on to design and market hand-made knitwear, under 'Soozi De Leon Designs', selling collections in Japan and USA as well as through individual shops and department stores in the UK.

Publications
Books I have contributed to include Creative Sewing "Machine Embroidery" and Good Housekeeping "Embroidery". For many years I designed textile projects for do-it-yourself magazines, including Busy Needles, Busy Hands, House & Gardens, Women's Own, Hamlyn D.Y.S. Cards and Marshall Cavendish.

Over the years, my textile and mixed media work (etching/printing and painting in watercolours and oils) has been selected and displayed in several open exhibitions, including: Llwellyn Alexander Gallery, London, R.W.S. Summer Open Exhibition, London, the Royal Watercolour Society, The Royal Institute of Painters in water colours Open Exhibition, London (three consecutive years), the New English Art Club and various local exhibitions.
